Hmm! This really is confusing! On the Q & A's on that link you have provided, above, it says this;-

Quote:
(230) Is the NavDesk software included in the box when I purchase the F10?

The NavDesk Software is not included in the box when you purchase your F10. It is included within the Connectivity Pack which is available to purchase from the Navman Online store. Please visit Navmanstores.

from navman site

F20 F30 F40 F50 The Safety Camera Data is not compatible with the F10

http://ukstore.navmanstores.com/Safety%20Cameras/F20%20F30%20F40%20F50/UK.htm

on f10 camara page it says
The Safety Camera Subscription is only currently available for the Navman S-Series. The Safety Camera Subscription will work on the Navman F10 however, you will need to purchase the F10 connectivty kit.

(The kit allows you to connect the F10 to your PC).

These cameras are NOT compatible with the Navman N20, N40 N60i, F20, F30, F40, F50, iCN 310, 320, 330, 510, 520, 530, 550, 610, 620, 630, 635, 650, PiN 100, PiN 300, PiN 570, iCN 720 or 750.
http://ukstore.navmanstores.com/Safety%20Cameras/F10/UK/S-Series%201%20Year%20Subscription%20for%20UK___220.htm?Compatibility

so will the F10 use the S-Series. databases from this site
i will be happy to test if someone can send me a small sample S-Series database

I am still of the opinion that the connectivity kit includes the navdesk software. What this software looks like, and does, I haven't got the foggiest.

As it reads in the online pdf manual, you can manage your custom poi's using the connectivity kit! If it does anything other that this then I think it is a case of Trade Discriptions Act.

I also noticed that the Navman safety cams are not compatable with my icn750, but of course the pgpsw database is!! Not that I would use the navmans database. eeeeiuw!

For 15 I personally would take a chance and buy it, but the choice is ofcourse yours, but for greater peace of mind I would give Navman support a call to confirm.

If you are embarrased about telling navman you want to load up some speed cameras, then just tell them you are a lorry driver and you need to load up some low bridge poi's. Cool

F10 and S30 do not support custom POIs. Connectivity kit provides access to Navman's subscription POI service. Subscription POIs are in the same format as the POIs that ship with the device, and that will work with F10 and S30 fine. Custom POIs use a different format and that format is not supported by F10 and S30. S-Series device that support custom POIs have extra directory in their Navman folder -- what on older devices used to be "MyPOI" folder now is called "database". Instead of previous one-file-per-POI-type that was a root cause of that old limit to number of POI types (between 16 and 25, depending on a device) everything is now stored in just one file. You can now have as many POI types as you want and you don't need desktop to add custom POIs any more (if you have S90i, that is -- NavPix are now effectively custom POIs) but you get that infamous 12k limit instead.

Hold your horses one mild mannered moment! I have just sent an e-mail to navman regarding this predicament, but as always I won't hold my breath for an immediate responce. I have asked them if you can install a .acs or .csv poi file onto an f10 using the connectivity kit. I simple responce will do and a definative answer we will have.

If in the meantime you wish to play with the database you need just the Navman database as it works with all the navman range. (with the possable exeption of these in question) Very Happy

Just give me the better part of the week for a reply!

Dear,

Unfortunately the F10 doesn't have the function of installing your own POI's.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Kind regards,

Navman Customer Support Team

Dispite all the contradictory evidence it would appear that TheM is right and the F10 cannot use .asc or .csv poi databases. Assuming that TheM is also right about the S30,l I have now informed Darren to update the compatablilty list of the pgpsw database.

I also must publicly appologise to TheM for doubting his statments, Sorry. Embarassed

we were already aware of the s30 not accepting custom pois but have now amended the compatibility chart to state that the f10 is not compatible.

No need to apologize -- fault is clearly with Navman's unclear documentation. Very Happy
