Can't find an answer via a search, so I'll run it past the members -
Does text to speech mean that text can somehow be added to a POI and converted to speech?
Or shall I have to investigate Ash10's software.

Cheers Keith.

No - you can't get access to the TTS like that. However you can associate an .mp3 file with a POI and this can contain speech etc. This is how the customised voice warnings for safety cameras work.

text to speech means that road names are spoken eg 'turn left onto thornton road' as opposed to just 'turn left'.

garmin units with text to speech will also speak the poi name as you arrive eg 'arriving at thornton grammar school on left' as opposed to 'arriving at destination on left' - i think tomtom only says the street name and not the name of the poi on arrival

O.K. Thanks for the reply. I'll have to look into associating an mp3 file with a POI.

All that I'm after is a way of having the type of Speed Cameras announced so as not to have to look at the display.

Cheers Keith.

You want to take a look at ASH10's Camera manager (see sticky at top of this forum) and search this forum for some pre-built voice files for the cameras. Or you can use the TomTom .ogg files and convert to .mp3 with something like Audacity (Google for it). Whilst ASH10's s/w isn't necessary (you can certainly do it by hand), it does make it much more manageable and automated after the initial set-up.

Ive tried the manual approach as I dont want to use ash`s sw (only as im happy with the current alert distances- which would be altered by it)

But it did not work, I loaded the Mp3s for Speed alerts I had converted using Audacity, manually to the same directory as Poi loader sent the speed cam file to, but I must have done it wrong as Im still geting the Bong not the voice alert, how should it be done? eg should I load them to the same directory as the zoned speed cam files on my pc and use Poi loader to hopefully pull them accross, or will Poi loader not do this? and they have to be done manually?

any info appreciated

Yes, exactly that way.

This is the second thread you are asking the same question in. Why do you keep mentioning Ash10s Camera Manager? If you don't want to use it you don't have to.
