I thought the POI category limit had been increased to 300, but I'm running App 7.221 on my 720 and have 107 ov2 files, and when I select "Add POI category" I get a red screen with "No more POI categories can be added". If I delete a category I can add one more, so the limit seems to be 107.

Has anyone else found this, or am I doing something wrong?

Can you add additional POI categories from the PC to the device and if so do these still show up, more importantly you need to be sure that non of the previously installed ones disapear? - I wonder if the device suports 300 POI categories when installed via a PC but the Add POI feature still has a limit applied for some bizare reason? - Mike

Thanks, Mike. I'll have a play with it later and report back.

I'll have to rename the TomTom POI file so those aren't shown, then I can just compare the count of available categories rather than having to check them against a list. I've got 20 CAxxxx and 12 PAxxxx Mapshare ov2 files, so will have to allow for those too.

The TomTom supplied POI files that are contained in the POI.dat file do not count towards the limit, just count up how many .ov2 files you have in the map folder? - Mike

That's what I've counted and it's 107.

I meant it would be easier to see how many POI categories are still accessible on the device if I get rid of the TomTom supplied ones first. If I leave them showing it will be difficult to check whether I've lost any of the custom ones. If I get rid of them I can just count the categories available on the device and check whether it agrees with the number of ov2 files. Or at least I think I can?

I haven't had time to do anything yet, but will let you know when I do.

I've done as you suggested, Mike, and the results are:

I had 107 ov2 files (75 custom pois + 32 Mapshare).
I added 5 more via the PC, making 112 ov2 files (80 custom pois).
But the device only showed 76 categories.

However, when I select "Add POI category" I am able to do so.
I added 2 more categories in this way, making 114 ov2 files (82 custom pois).
The device is now showing 78 categories.

And I am totally confused! Confused Confused Confused

I forgot to mention that I had renamed the poi.dat file.

After my last post I changed it back - and got the red screen with "No more POI categories can be added". Renaming the file again allows me to "Add POI category" once more!

I'm now even more confused! Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused (If you can be more confused than totally! Laughing )
