Hi forum,

I've searched for this but can't find an answer.

I have a Tomtom ONE V2 bought Jan 07. I installed a few celebrity voices and settled on John Cleese.

Recently my Tom Tom home updated to v2 (2.1.2.121) This upgraded my firmware to v 7.162

Map is "Western Europe" v652.1185

Couple of problems:

1) The new firmware (the light blue screens) shows MapShare but the unit says my map is out of date. Is it worth upgrading (I'm assuming its not free)?

2) Since the new firmware was installed dear old John Cleese now clips the distance info.

Where he used to say "In 800 Yards take the exit" he now says "In 8 Take the exit"

Are there any fixes for this please?

Many thanks.

As far as problem no. 1 is concerned, you need maps of at least ver 675 to use Mapshare. I'm afraid you'll have to buy new maps.

I can't comment on the John Cleese voice.

The updated version is v710.1561 and depending on your GPS position some people say that the newer version is better and some say that the newer version has less streets that the older version and wished they kept the older version. I hope this helps and mind to back-up first.

To be honest i prefer the newer map and was glad to upgrade and i think the discounted maps end at the end of January so dont wait to long if you decide to update.

You could try removing the folder for John Cleese and then install it again. Cant promise it will work though.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Yes I got the discounted maps email. Will probably go for the upgrade and back up everything first in case I need to switch back.

I'll try a fresh install of the add-on Cleese voice and see if it just got corrupted during the firmware update.

Many thanks. Great forum.

Unfortunately a fresh install of the John Cleese voice didn't help.

He's still clipping the yardage announcements as detailed above.

I get exactly the same problem with the John Cleese voice on a GO 510 since updating to version 7 software. It used to work fine with version 6. The standard voices work fine. I am currently on version 7.162.
