Info about new maps for Viamichelin 970T Europen New (V7)

I just ordered one gps viamichelin 970T new version with european maps.
(it will be shipped to my home next days).
One question. Next summer I'd like to go to US for tourism. Do you know if I can buy the US or North American maps?
What I found strange in gps is that is not simple to buy maps for others word region so if I'm italian and I buy european version for Italy I cannot found nor in viamichelin site neither in teleatlas site the package to change maps (of course I want to buy and to pay them, I'm not asking free of charge).
Do you know why and if there is a solution without buy a new full gps unit directly in US ?

Stu (Deepfour) - I am interested in this map question too. I have looked extensively on VM websites (European and US), and tried Googling, but can find no mention anywhere of separate USA maps. It would seem that if you are in the USA you can buy Europe maps off the websites, but not vice-versa.

I am interested particularly in knowing if there is anything in the way of Japanese maps, where I am going next year.

Is there a general plan for marketing supplementary maps please?

I have heard nothing. I hope that in next future Viamichelin give us the chance to buy maps outside europe.
