Hi

HP 2210, TT2 bluetooth ppc2003

I dropped my pda the other night and it seems to have forgotton who was and lost all my data.
I have managed to sort that side out and have only got to get TT2 loaded again but......
I have loaded the software but when I try to run it all i get is that silly round clock type symbol in the middle of the screen which goes on for ages but nothing happens.
I don't understand, when i got this kit in Dec 2003 it worked straight out of the box and apart from the BT module being fried (since replaced) I have not had a days problem. Now it won't even start.
Have I done something wrong?
I'm pretty sure there is no hardware damage as all other programmes work fine.
I hhave no problem pairing with the BT module so.......
I have come to rely on this tool so much for work now I'm stuck without it.

Anyone experienced the same issue.

Do I need some updates?

Just to mention, just before I dropped it (10mins) i did a full sync so would any of those files on my PC be of use?

Thanks

Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago although I hadn't dropped the PDA - just couldn't launch TT2. Eventually I did a hard reset and reloaded TT2 (twice!) but felt afterwards that actually the problem was to do with the CF Card. I removed the card and replaced it and everything was ok so it might be that when you dropped the PDA you dislodged the CF Card. It's worth having a look at before you reload the software.

Yes i know what you mean and I've tried that.
My maps are on the Sd card and I've deleted them via a card reader and reinstalled but no change.

How do you do a hard reset and save all docs, pics and other data on my PDA?

The same kind of thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I didn't drop my ipaq (a 1945), but I had accidently popped out the SD card while TT2 was accessing a map. I had to reset the device to get it back, but then TT2 wouldn't start - it would just spin the clock for about 15 seconds then die. I tried installing a smaller map on the local storage of the IPAQ, then tried starting TT2 without the SD card. It started, and prompted me for the new map. I can install a small map on the SD card and it works, but if I try to install a large map, I get sporadic crashes.
TomTom support told me to delete the contents of "My Documents/TomTom Navigator Settings" folder to wipe out any bad configuration. That at least enabled me to start the app and switch maps.
It may be some internal setting for TomTom that got screwed up, but I haven't eliminated the SD card as a possiblity. But I've tried one other SD card with the large map and still got the same issue. But these were both Sandisk cards, which apparently are suceptible to corruption. I have a new Panasonic SD card on the way which I hope will solve the problem.
I'll post back once I try the new card.

I just replaced the suck-ass Sandisk SD cards with a new Panasonic 256MB. Works like a champ now! Try replacing your CF card and see if it works.

If re-installing the maps has not cured your issue then have you tried a full uninstall/re-install of TomTom? Failing that a hard reset would seem to be your only option.

To copy any docs, pictures you could simply move them to the memory card before the hard reset or using active sync copy them to your PC first.
