Glad we got there in the end.
Would have been quicker if we'd known you hadn't only "bought it" though!
Think a mod/admin needs to update the FAQs though... |

Anita, you are right of course, however I'm happy to admit I've made a mistake. Dennis clearly just likes to make me feel bad!

Andy,
What is your feeling on the 710 maps?
Based on our posts on the 2 sites, it seems to be clear that the 710 WCE map is inferior to the WCE 675.1322 map. How could this be?
Did TT or TA mess up or is the 675.1322 map a Navteq? Even if this is the case, the 660 TA map has that Switch Island update that the 705 and 710 lack.
Sorry to go off-topic here, but it seems that VR issue has been solved now. |

At least he was man enough to admit what he'd done, Dennis. He could have just kept quiet! | C'mon, Anita. I'm a Aaaaaaard Northerner, remember, and he's probably a Southern Softypants. Grovel is good for Softypantses.
Seriously though, He DID say sorry, for which I admire him (as much as it's possible to admire a Southern Softypants, I suppose ). _________________ Dennis

Dennis,
Y are U so hard and fast for a Go720??
From the limited reports from customers at amazon.com and bestbuy.com, it seems that the 920 is a WINNER with no reported issues so far. One guy from LA traded up from the 910 and he is totally satified, raving about how the POI access software has been upgraded as is as good as Garmin. I also read good feeedback on the dead reckoning feature.
Methinks you should return your 720 and save up the moolah to get a 920 as soon as it comes out! |

HOWEVER, I have a nasty feeling #7 is going wonky - getting difficult to recall whether that's the Halfords or the Maplin one. I may have worn out my welcome at Halfords. _________________ Dennis

I keep forgetting that, Dennis! I think living down south has mellowed you a bit, and you're not quite as hard as you like to make out! _________________ Anita

I'm Aaaaaaaaaaaaaard Anita. I chew toasted bread for breakfast (WITH my teeth in) and drink coffee with hardly any sugar in it. _________________ Dennis

Ooooh, that is Aaaaaaaaaard, Dennis. Maybe I'm not so sorry now that I can't make the 8th Dec. You sound really frightening! _________________ Anita

I will revise the relevant FAQ when I get tomorrow as I am not trying that using a mobile phone, unless anyone else does it first - well found though as this wasn't something I had seen (yet).
Need to sort out blocking the A15 in Lincolnshire later this year before going home (watch the news around Dec 19th to find out what I am up to) - Mike |

I've got a US-spec 720, It would be really nice to get that feature activated.

This advice comes from a daft old man - treat it with contempt! _________________ Dennis

I think the poster is after activating TTS on a model that was never intended to have it Dennis. You need to put your 'ard Northern moderator hat on... |

Wouldn't this have been better as a NEW topic? Doesn't have a lot to do with voice recognition.
Maybe a kind moderator can split it out?
Anyway, maps...
Who knows, and TT aren't telling.
I'm certain v675 WASN'T a Navteq
Maybe they HAVE used some out of date material and are frantically trying to sort it, but that's a pure guess, (although nothing else fits the evidence we see and the fact the maps seem to have disappeared.
I did see a post today saying that the downloads started to work again today... |

Toneloc427 you're breaking our rules I'm afraid. Your device, being North America spec, does not have speech recognition feature. It probably doesn't have the necessary wherewithal to run it even with a different Map setting file. BUT, BUT we do not allow any fishing on this website for methods of cracking things. So I've chewed up your post! _________________ Dennis
