while rearching for a good set of hare/software GPS equipment, I came across this simple(for experts..) question..

Are those GPS hardware(recievers) pretty starndard that will work with any GPS software or vice versa? Given that OS are same for both hard/soft..

Thanks in advance.

In short, yes.

But you have to be a bit more specific.

well, i am gonna buy a tablet PC running XP. I am thinking about getting either a bluetooth or usb gps reciever out there. Now my question is, if not all, would most of map/gps software work with them? Again, OS are same. If i buy a reciever in Korea, would that work with any software in the U.S.?

As Pc-Mobile says the answer is most likely yes.

Pretty much all GPS receivers output data in a format called NMEA and programs that interface with GPS units understand this format.

If you let us know what software and hardware you are planning on using and what you want to do with it, then there may be people here who can give you some opinions on how good it is. Smile
