Why should roads that you can't get a car down without running into trouble be on the sat nav system in the first place?

because people use them on bikes or in their hands walking ;)
I don't do hands walking. Taunt I don't even do much feet walking - quick shuffle to the toilet and back, that's about it. Maybe zimmer walking will be next - do they do a Brodit for it?

I think it is because the Mapping companies don't actually survey them the same as they do for motorways, A, & B roads but obtain the information regarding them from the ordnance survey.

Just looking at a route to Leicester Forest East south bound on the M1.

On my 'old' map version (660 UK and IE plus major road sof WE) the roads are mapped and shown with arrows indicating direction.

On my 710.1571 UK and Republic of Ireland map all the roads in the service area are shown with green dashed lines and no indication of traffic direction.

In both cases the point given as the arrival point is the same

Listen Andy, I don't wish to appear Philistine, but that machine is not really in my class - I want one with wheels and a handbrake. Please? And could the mount be one of those extended gooseneck ones to bring the GO closer to my hearsight? Please?

DennisN,

I am going to beat you to the punch. I just ordered a 920 in the US thru costco.com for pickup in the US. With tax and delivery, they have an unbeatable price of $435!!! That is like GBP220!

Now, I just have to organize to sell the 910 with the up to date 710 maps and mobilnova video player! I am hoping to get top dollar for my up to date souped up 910!

The 920 is smaller and I can get a 4gb SD card to max out the memory (or maybe 2 2gb cards are cheaper). What brand/type of SD card is recommended?

Just be careful that's not PUNCH spelled S.U.C.K.E.R. Have they even heard of Switzerland in the US? Check the spec. I might even offer you a fiver (Euros) for your 910. Laughing

LoL

Dont worry,
I bought the 910 in the US in the first place!!! It works like a dream in Switz., even the old TMC antenna worked.

No spec. issue as the 9x are meant to be used in either continent.

Costco also has very generous US style return policies. I will have the unit in hand there over Xmas and will be able to do a full inspection.

A fiver for the up to date 910 with video player and new style mount??Methinks you are in a generous mood today! LoL

Part of the fiver (Euros) would be your fee for getting rid of the video player.

"generous US style return policies" - they pay your fare there? Twisted Evil

Frequent flyer miles. LoL

The video player works great! Given the HUGE 20gb hard drive space, what else am I to use to fill her up?? The screen is great for watching TV showws for kids in the back. I dont need a GPS for every trip, and this way I save on having to buy a DVD player!

I though you meant 5 pounds! Euros...forgetaboutit! Laughing Out Loud

Can somebody do another map check please. I got this fault today on both map WE v705 (on GO720 #6) and on v710 (GO720 #7).

Navigate from N52.26518, W1.6117 (A46 Southbound at M40 Junction 15) to N52.26297, W1.62146 (M40 just northwest of J15).

It SHOULD take you "right at the roundabout, 5th exit", straight onto M40, but it wanted me to turn south down M40, come off at next junction, turn around and go back up the M40. For the life of me I tried with both devices/maps to unblock every inch of that roundabout (and there's even one tiny section showing both two-way traffic north and south, when it's a roundabout). All to no avail. I can't get it to do the route properly. Any takers?

If you set 'shortest' rather than 'fastest' it works. I recently had a similar situation on M1 J14 - only works with shortest route.

Same here, Dennis. They must add a lot of time for delays when taking the fifth exit off a roundabout. Confused

There's something wrong with the mapping on that roundabout section crossing the M40.

The eta went from 3m50s to 45s Shocked just as my demo crossed the M40 central reservation. This meant it thought it was a minute quicker to go down to the next junction and back when calculating.

Changing the roundabout to one-way made no difference.
