I get random "useful" tips coming up when I do things on my tt. Anybody know how to stop them?

Isn't it possible to turn this feature off in the 'Preferences' section?

Preferences> Safety Preferences. Un tick them all.

Even with all this off I still get the occasional "don't forget to connect to a PC" message.

Have you tried the last page of Change Preferences. There is an Option to Hide Tips.

If you have a One third Edition there is no "Hide Tips" all you can do is keep answering NO to the Tips and after a while it should ask you if you want to stop having tips displayed at all, IF it does ask this question make sure you answer it correctly to stop it from further stupid messages, there are no other selections in the menu screens that I know of to turn this off!! - Mike

But what device is it? - there is loads on confusion with respect to numbers and versions etc. Look at the box and does it say "One Third Edition" if you don't have the box to hand does the device have an SD card slot on the base plate or not? - Mike

Throw a custom menu on the device and include the syntax

TASK_SWITCH_TIPS

In one line, use this to disable the tips then remove the custom menu to get the original menu back, unless you want to costruct your own menu to gain access to Itinerary Planning and the proper POI functions - Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks, this looks like it may do the job. I read your excellent review of TT1 V3 and was planning to follow your instructions to make a custom menu to get itinerary and poi features back. If I follow those instructions and also add the line:

MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_TIPS|

Will this do the job?

Thanks,

Justin

Yes that syntax will work and allow you to knock off the tips, if you want any help with the menu text or configuration let us know as we can post up a suggested text to load to the device.
The One Third Edition can even display and use text documents with the correct command line in the menu should you need this - Mike
