Trafficmaster has died

I have a rather old Trafficmaster 1210 (Celtic cross) unit that I acquired from the RAC many years ago.

A few months ago it stopped working and I cannot revive it. There is no issue with power and I can see no obvious signs of burned out components. I had thought of buying something else until I discovered how expensive to buy and subscribe to the more modern services are.

Do you have any thoughts as to what may have died or, if there is no hope for it, an inexpensive replacement unit that will not cost an arm and a leg to subscribe to each year.

I too have had a 1210 unit running for around 10yrs, and earlier this year is went a bit berserk with all orange lights flickering on and off a lot, then it just didnt didnt respond to any roadside beacons anymore.

Occasionally though it does responds to a beacon OK, and gives 3 beeps, but this is about one per week of driving.

It seems too much of a coincidence that yours stopped working the same time as mine?

I suspect that maybe the network this ran on has been shut down?

Does anyone know anythink definite?
