I have had a Go 500 for over 2 years now which I am perfectly happy with and, although I occasionally browse the newer models, have never felt the need to upgrade.

We have identified a need at work for some routes to be recorded and the Tripmaster software I have installed on my Go 500 does the job nicely. Consequently, I now need to buy a new TomTom for the office so that the route work can commence.

As it is some time since I looked seriously at the TomTom range I am somewhat confused by the range of models available at the moment. I see that many of the lower models (various 'One' and 'One XL' variants) do not have SD card slots - how much spare internal memory do these generally have ?

My requirements are fairly simple :-
1. Must be able to run Tripmaster application
2. Must have sufficient storage capacity to hold several Tripmaster logs
3. Only needs to have UK mapping

I had hoped to buy a 'One XL' initially but then lack of SD slot may be an issue. Is the lowest TomTom model with an SD slot the '520' ?

Tripmaster works best on v6 software. It apparently works on v7, but there are some display issues.

The SD card slot issue is not easy to answer... There have been versions of both the ONE and the ONE XL that have internal memory and/or a card slot.
I could be wrong, but I think that both the regional and the Europe versions of the One XL still have a card slot even though they now have internal memory too. That's certainly what the TT website still says:
On the regional version, for example:
Quote:
* Highly sensitive GPS chipset
* 32 MB RAM
* CPU 266 MHz
* 4.3 inch full TFT colour LCD touchscreen (480 x 272 pixels, 64.000 colors)
* Internal memory 512 MB
* SD slot (only for additional maps, SD not included)
* Bluetooth™ 2.0
* Internal Litium-Ion battery (2 hours operation)
* 119 x 86 x 27 mm, 208 grams
* Operating temperature: -10 °C to +55 °C

The ONE "New Edition" has a slot (if you can still find it anywhere), but the ONE "3rd Edition" does not.
