Compact Flash receivers and Macs

Hello all,

After all my hassles with my Toshiba e740 PDA, I thought I might try and use my Globalsat BC-307 CF GPS with my desktop Mac via a firewire CF card reader. I know the receiver will work in a Powerbook laptop (with a PCMCIA adapter) but I could get nothing using my CF card reader.

Is there anyway to get this rig working?

Most probably the Mac CF card reader is expecting some kind of stoage device or "hard disk" (the CompactFlash memory cards are actually emulating a complete ATA interface).

But since the Macs are now running Linux (well, sort of) you should be able to find a replacement driver that also understands serial ports etc .

You can verify this by inserting a CF Modem card - this is the same interface that the standard GPS CF cards are emulating. If the Mac can handle the CF modem then it can also handle the CF GPS.
