HELP!!!

How do i change the software version on my i3?????????????

I've copied 2.7 onto my computer, unzipped it, connected the unit via the usb cable, clicked on the updater but it then errors mentioning someting about setting the interface option to Host.

EDIT:

I should mention that I'm using Vista....I've just tried going from 3.30 to 3.40 and that threw up the same issues. Is this a generic Vista problem?? I can still upload poi's via this PC though???
