I have an O2 Orbit and I have installed the provided CoPilot 7 software as well as the latest version of TomTom which I have been using for some time. I actually prefer the look and feel of CoPilot to TomTom but I can find no way of removing the really annoying 'Driver Safety' screen which displays up until you are close to the next manouvre, preventing a real time view of the map a lot of the time. From what I can see, for some ridiculous reason, this 'feature' doesn't seem to be an option and increasing the distance before it disappears to one mile is the best you can do.

Is there no way of turning this off or increasing the distance to a point which is effectively the same as turning it off? I would like to use this software instead of TomTom but won't if a lot of the time all that is visible is a static blue screen with the next manouvre on it.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm using CP7 and it doesn't work like that for me, I don't have the PDA with me at the moment but as soon as I get it back later today I shall check.

Thanks, any information would be appreciated. The screen I'm talking about is blue with the next manouvre and road information on it as opposed to the real time map you would have on TomTom. So if it is five miles until the next manouvre, this screen will annoyingly display for a minimum of four of them and I can find no way of turning it off.

It's a bit like the image below, although I recall it looks slightly different so maybe that is a previous version.

Ok, I now have my PDA back.

Click MENU | Driving Views

I have mine set to '3D' and see the map all the time.

*tells oneself to check through the options next time*

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

Just another quick question, is there a way of seeing which version of a map is being used? I just want to see if there is a more up to date one.

Indeed there is,

MENU | Settings | About CoPilot

The 'Data' text field shows the map version, mine is NAVTEQ.EU.07Q1.2.2.2.2 i.e the First Release of 2007. Being a 2007 map it is essentially current.

What do you have configured in the Driver Safety menu option available if you choose Settings from the short cut menu when CoPilot launches?

Ahhh now how does one get the welcome menu back, I disabled it. However, in settings through the normal menu, I have set the driver safety Display map near turn - yes; When turn is within - 500m; map type - 3d. I have a stretch of a road in town that is 1.9k long, no turns and when I go down it, no driver safety screen.

Ok, that setting configures how Driver Safety operates when selected.

Now check Menu -> Driving Views ->

You need to have chosen Driver Safety here for it to operate?

Darren,

I have a brown outline around the driver safety button, but the driver safety screen does not appear. If I select 2d or 3d, the map changes to selection and keeps tha settine till changed, however, when I go back to that driving view, still have the driver safety button highlighted, despite being in 2 or 3d

I have worked out how to get the welcome scrreen back. In settings, go to tips and tutorials, then tips & tricks, there is a option to show tips and tricks, which shows the same at start up and also gives you the welcome mini settings at start up.

I am shortly off to work, I have selected not to show maps in driver safety, I shall let you know whether this brings up the driver safety screen. If not, a reinstall on Wednesday morning to see if that corrects the problem.
