I have just had to buy a TTG 700 (after my 300 got nicked), and I find that my "turn on / off sound" icon is buried several pages down the line.
In my 300, this was on the first page that opened up after I tapped the screen - and this is where I want it! (I seem to remember a sound on/off icon appearing superimposed on the running map, which would be even better).
Can anyone please tell me how I can re-site this icon?

What Firmware/software version is on your G700?

If 7.12 or later, this does not work with the software development kit (SDK) and can't be amended, as yet.

If prior, is it located at the bottom row, middle position on the second screen? If yes, then just tap the "blue arrow"/car icon on the main map 3 times to mute and same again to activate.

Hope this is of use to you, svengali.

My version seems to be 5.419 (Which surprises me, as I thought I had updated via TT Home), but your three-times tap certainly works.
Many thanks.

The "3 taps" trick works on the latest software too, as the menus haven't changed.

AFAIK TVR, the sdkmenu will still work on all software (it's used on Mike Alder's "fix" to un-cripple the new ONE third edition), but as the mute icon is in a sub-menu, it might not be moveable anyway.
On v7 you can also add the mute icon to the new "quick menu"

Hi again Andy,

The reason I said use the3 taps trick for th older software is that I don't have first hand knowledge of Go 700. I was sure if the software was the same. At least I know know. Thanks.

If you have a MNU file in the SDK you know that you loose the "help me" feature. Although I do need to look at Mike Alder "fix". does this work around the problem?

What quick menu? Surprised

No, Mike's "fix" puts back the itinerary and user POI functions but loses the "Help me.." and "Mapshare" ones because they are coded in a different way and don't have menu items at all.

"Quick menu" in v7 is actually a rather good idea... You have a transparent icon on the left of the main navigation screen to which you can assign one or more functions that you want to get to very quickly. The whole list you can pick from is:
TomTom Jukebox
Report safety Camera
Mark Location of Map Error
Navigate to Spoken Address
Navigate to Postcode
Add position to Favourites
FM transmitter
Call...
Help me
Switch 2D/3D view
Switch day/night view
Show Weather

If you have just one selected, you get that icon and tapping it does that function immediately. If you have several, you get a green circular arrow icon that takes you to a page with just the ones you've chosen on it.

I have just looked up the "Mike's Fix" link, and to a tyro it is frightening, is there a step-by-step guide, so that I know I am doing exactly what must be done - for a Go 700?
Also, I have just finished enabling Mullet's sound files (ogg). Will I need to do all these again, also, if I update my firmware (It looks as if I am some way behind), and load the latest POIs, will I again, need to re-enable my ogg files.
Just what order should I take all these steps in?

Have a look at Gregory Duncans Menu builder as this provides a nice graphical method to "build" your required menu and creates the text file required for the device, please click Here - Mike

Hi Mike, the link appears to load, but all I get is a blank page.

Give it another try as it appears to be working now, it wasn't when I first checked it following your last post - Mike

Andy,

Thanks for the Info., but the only quick menu available to me is the mapshare one. Is this what you are refering to?

I think, more likely, that this is another feature missing from TT1V2's v7 update Rolling Eyes
