I've downloaded the update to my TT1, had a play with it, looks nice. I've tried to use mapshare and it says my map is too old and mapshare is not supported!
The unit was only bought in January this year. I'm downloading home 2.1 with the fixes on. Do you think this will solve the problem or do I need to buy an updated map off ebay?
Mapshare would be a big help to me as I use the unit for work everyday and it'll be handy to updaye my own maps and rename the unnamed roads.
Help???? |

You need v675.1409 map OR LATER to get mapshare to work. |

And if you buy it off eBay, you'll probably get in all sorts of difficulties. Even if it is not a pirated copy, you still will need to get the original product code (if it is a v6 map) and otherwise prove ownership to TomTom if it is less than 6 months since it was registered by the original owner or if it is a v7 map.
To my mind, it just ain't worth the hassle - it's hard enough re-registering your OWN maps! |

Wibbly,
The auto off feature turns the screen off based on the distance to the next instruction. From Looking at my unit the screen comes back at 2 mile prior to the next instruction.
I'm not sure why the brighness setting is ignored. May be to GET YOUR ATTENTION?
Yes, this feature does work when the unit has external power.

What is the point when the unit has external power? I thought the function was a battery saving mode. Have I missed something? |

I think it's a bug. The only way I restore the set brightness is to cycle day/night mode. That can't be correct, surely? |

Lola,
I agree that is silly to add this function under "battery saving" but it would probably be better placed under Safety options. I suppose it's useful for those who don't want the distraction whilst driving.
Wibbly,
Sorry I can't say I've experienced the same thing. I use suntime and I haven't noticed the increase in brighness. Let's see if anyone else has the same problems.
Regards,
ps: Dropped the "help me" features. Tripmaster, reverseitn and Suntime are far more useful. _________________ TVR

Ah. I would expect suntime might itself override/reset the brightness setting every 'period' setting in suntime |

I have an idea - maybe the battery saving mode whilst on external power is to save the car battery running flat whilst the engine is off. Brilliant.
How long would it take for a TT to flatten a car battery? I would guess at between 1 and 2 weeks depending on the rating of the car battery. |

Try and add a sound it asks if it is the correct sound (but you only get silence) and then it tries to open a pictures directory nd freezes.
Any ideas? |
Yes, its a bug in the program, when it asks "is this the correct sound", tap YES, although it hasn't played a sound.

Got Home version 2.1.0.92 up and running Ok. Have just connected up my TTG 500 and received map and POI updates. Did a trip into Central London this morning and everything is working well...I.E. Warning sounds on all camera sites and the exceeding the map speed limits. |

Stu,
Good to here it's working for you too.
I'm generally happy with mapshare.
If only TT would update the Speed limits as fast as I'm sending 'em!
