C310 map update advice please.

Hi,

I have a C310 running City Navigator Europe NT v 8 and holidaying in the US next month and would like to take along the sat nav with me.

So I need to buy the city navigator north America NT maps. No problems. Ordered the disk from Garmin and it is on route.

What size SD card should I be getting as I don’t want to mess up the current card which I am using now as it came preloaded with the unit.

Also, once I get the install disk, I take it I install it to my PC which connects to the sat nav via the mini USB connector? Or should I be using my PC SD card reader to update the new card?
