Hi almost everytime i connect my tomtom 720 to home 2(latest version i think) i get this error saying no backup folder ,i can then send the error to tomtom ,but on the odd occasion i am able to connect quite happily ,anyone come across this error
sorry i should also add once error has sent i can them press back and update most things to my tomtom ..i have also tried to see if i can run my tt from home but am still getting the error so maybe it doesn't update the actual unit
thanks _________________ TomTom 5001 |

First thing... have you actually DONE a backup using Home?
As you probably know, the usual advice here is to do a FULL backup using Windows Explorer (rather than Home which tends to leave out large chunks)
However, once you've done that - instructions in the 'sticky' TomTom FAQs topic, theres nothing to stop you trying one via Home and see if that stops it complaining. As I've never used Home for my backups, I haven't seen that message myself.
I don't see why not having a backup will stop the machine updating, but once it has, you should do another Windows Explorer one (into a different folder on your PC).
If it helps you to work out why it is complaining about no backup... in the preferences menu of Home, there is a page to set what folders it uses for various things. Maybe the folder it is expecting to use doesn't exist? |
