|
|
Hello I am thinking about purchasing a TT 720 and from what I understand it comes preloaded with "safety cameras" ??
I am told that while drving in France if the Police can prove you have been using the device for camera detection they can/will confiscate it.
Can anyone tell me if you can EASILY disable the camera ? (On / off button)
My Dad has an older TT and says he can not turn the camera warning on and off. I have used it many time and don't seem to remember seeing this fucntion.
I really don't fancy spending £300 this Friday and loosing it in France on Saturday !!!
Also does anyone use the device to play back MP3 via the radio transmitter ? How does this actually perform please ?
Thanks in advance - Will |

One of the PGPSW members lives in Nice and he made enquiries and was told it's OK to use the database in France.
But be aware, the Gendarmerie can and do set up speed traps any time and anywhere they feel like it. The database for mobiles will probably not be 100% accurate.
Switzerland - NO cameras databases whatsoever, even if you don't have Swiss ones on device.
Germany and Austria have, evidently, recently banned the use of safety camera databases for use within their counties.
Spain? It's a 50-50 and not sure about there.
Eire. I believe it is also illegal to have the Eire camera database installed. |

I think your find that most european countries ( spain, france, netherlands, holland, belgium ) etc you are allowed to have a satnav gps system but not an actual radar detector device which are prohibited.

I've used my TT for the past 3 years going on holiday in France, never had a problem from the long arm of the law. Used to use the database from GPSPassion, but used PGPSW this year. I've even added some new ones. There seemed to be quite a few new fixed cameras this year, but they put up a sign about 400 yds before each camera to warn you!!
Only saw 1 mobile camera, they're could have been more but I was going too fast to notice

I have this exact same problem on these france roads!
WillD said" SD card Problems"
The only problem i had was when an SD card was not inserted and connecting to the PC took ages!
If you get an SD card it should work fine, I got a 2GB card from PCW for about £20. Create a folder called MP3 and put all your tracks in there.
Worked like a dream for me.
My only sound issue was the songs came out loud on the FM radio but the voices were quiet in comparison.
But on my TT700 the voices are clear to hear whilst going some with the Cd player turned up to match.

You really want to hope you don't get caught, all fines are on the spot, if you can't pay the fine, you lose your vehicle, and if you are going faster than a certain speed ( can't remember what it is) you lose your vehicle anyway
English drivers are treated very differently from the natives, so there is even a very good chance a night in the cells is on the cards. _________________ Tomtom Go730T
