I've given up trying to get TTHome to work properly. It wants me to download some camera files but it won't do it and I continually get the message: Internal server error (500). It adds to the problem by confusing the 300 with the 520 and vice versa. So now I would like to revert to updating manually as I did with my TTG300. With the 300 I downloaded the camera files and stuck the SD card in the appropriate computer slot and copied the camera files onto the SD card.
Question is: Can I go to "My computer", find the 520 and copy the camera files into the map folder like I did with the 300?
ps. Forgot to mention; First run out today with the 520, running on it's battery and after about an hour it periodically makes a noise I can only describe as a "clucking" noise. "Cluck cluck cluck" and then quiet for a couple of minutes and then "cluck cluck" again. (No hens in the car apart from the one I'm married to.) Anyone else get this noise?

Yes you can use Windows Explorer to copy files to the device, when the unit asks ''Do you want to connect to computer'' press the Yes button, then start up Windows Explorer and the TomTom will show up as a separate drive letter, proceed as normal from that point.
If you get sick of the TomTom Home application starting up when you connect to the PC simply go to preferences (in the tomtom Home application) and uncheck the ''Start automatically when the PC starts up'' box - until this application is more stable I only ever use it to grab updates, I don't even trust it to install them, Windows Explorer is the better method for comunication with the device IMHO at this time - Mike

THIS IS NOT A FAULT. Check the back seat, the floor and the boot, the eggs will deffo be in there somewhere! Or maybe balanced on the back axle?

I had g.g.g.g.g.g.g.g.g. the other day in the middle of a hands free phone call. That GO720 has gone back, so I can't duplicate the issue.

I admire your confidence going out with it on battery. If it runs flat, will you be able to find your way home?

I get the clucking noise when the battery is low.

Maybe it's supposed to be the low battery warning?

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist it Dennis. You could be right Technik, the unit had probably been on for about 1 1/2 hrs.
I'm doing the same run again tomorrow so I will do it with power on and see if the hens reappear.
Thanks, I will report back tomorrow.
That new TTHome has a mind of its own doesn't it? I have set it not to open when I connect my 520 but it knows best and opens anyway!

It looks like the clucking noise is a low battery warning. I did the same trip today with the lead connected with no problems. I also installed the safety cameras and voice warnings. Have I done it right? The voice warning wording is not like it is on my 300, but I selected "brief spoken warning". Was that correct? All I want is something like "Mobile camera ahead, speed limit 30 mph". For the record, my Motorola V300 seems to work ok, no buzzing noises, although I do have this problem of different volume level between the TT and the radio which makes the FM side pretty well unusable. (I couldn't stand buzzing and clucking noises in my head. That would be too much! The bells, the bells.....). Hopefully a software update will fix that. Now I just have to figure out how to download some mp3 files to it.

bazza, please have a read of the set-up guide for the Go-910 as this details the use of TTS to generate the warmings, see Here - Mike

ok Mike I get your point. Forgive me if i'm being stupid, but I used the same ogg files as on the 300. Why aren't the warnings the same simple ones as on the 300? Sounds like a lot of work to create a warning using TTS for every type and speed of camera.

It looks like you have found another bug in the code, if you load ogg files then select Sound Effect when configuring the warning for a POI I answered to No to the message asking if the sound is the correct one and the device locked up displaying a " No Photos Found" message.

Instead answer Yes to the question about "Is this the correct sound" while configuring the Warn When Near POI (even though it doesn't offer you a choice or play anything to listen to), set the other options and you will find it is using the ogg files - I have just done this and confirm this is the situation running 7,010 - Mike

Sounds as if you haven't got it right. If you were happy with GO 300 OGG warnings, the same ones will still work on the x20s (I'm using the same ones I had on the GO700 and on my 710 - I actually copied them from the devices because I couldn't remember which of the many OGG sets I've got on my PC are the ones I like).
Same procedure as before - copy pgpsw cameras, bitmaps and OGGs into the map directory, then enable and set to Warn, and distances etc. The question I was asked was something like "Do you want to use this warning", which seemed to indicate it was playing some warning or other, only it wasn't. But I said Yes. That was where it differed from the 700 and 710 - they didn't offer a choice of sound after we'd put the OGGs in there.

But if you select "Sound Effect" and answer "No" to the question about the sound that isn't played or displayed it crashes the device with a message about no pictures..... Rolling Eyes

Answer YES to the question and the x20 will pick up and use the ogg files, you really need to select "Sound Effect" to use the ogg files otherwise it will employ the TTS engine and produce strange results based upon the POI Category name, unless you set up the full spoken alerts IAW with the 910 user guide, which does take some time setting up, I typically take around 20 mins to do this for a full spoken set up - Mike

Just as you say. It works. I have my voices back. Thanks Mike and Dennis. You worked round it, but TT need to pick that up in the next software version so it doesn't give numpties like me a hard time.

Where can I find info on loading mp3 files onto TT? I have put some mp3 files onto an SD Card and put it in the slot but TT doesn't see them. It only sees the demo tracks.

make sure the mp3 audio files are located in a folder called mp3 if the files are not in a folder named this way the device will not pick them up or use them - Mike

Done that Mike. You do mean, put the Mp3 files in a folder called Mp3 on the SD card?? But it still doesn't see them. All I can find are the demos.
