Hi again,
Sorry about this but now the active sync will not work. Should i do a hard reset and start again, and follow your instuctions from the start and let you know how i get on. If i do a hard reset where do i back up the files and do i need to while there is not much on it as it is new.

Try a soft reset first and see if you can sync after that. If you do go for a hard reset I would not bother backing up the device unless there si something on there that you do not have the installers for?. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi
I've done the hard reset and installed active sync again and it works, but when i tried to set up a pertnership it would not let me use the name pocket pc it said it was already in use. Will it do any harm if i change the name or will i have to delete something else.
Thanks Tony |

You missed the above step didn't you Remove the Axim from the sync cable and do the above, re-connect it and you can create a new partership using the same name _________________ Darren Griffin |

Me again,
Thanks for all that.
Got it back to putting maps on but keeps saying disc error when i try to load them onto storage card.
It will however let me install them on the computer, so i cant see that there is anything wrong with the disc.
When i tried to install from pc to pda it said make sure the files are not read only, i checked and they are archive files.
Do i have to set the pda up in any way to accept the files, or should it do it automatically.
Thanks again

Let's take this from the beginning.
1. Have you installed the TomTom application first?
2. Can you supply the exact error meassge you are receiving? _________________ Darren Griffin |

And when you try to install the maps, are you still trying to copy via File Explorer from the GreatBritain Mapset installed on your PC or via the TomTom Installer? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi again,
this is the error message i got when i tried to copy from a folder on the p.c. to the storage card folder.
Cannot copy great britain, access denied.
Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, and the file is not set as read only, and that you have permission to copy the file type.
I hope this helps.
The error message on the last post was when i tried to put the maps directly onto the storage card.
Sorry for the confusion

Sorry Tony, one or both of us is getting very confused here!
You should be copying the 'Great_Britain Navigator Map' folder and all its contents from your PC to your PDA. TomTom does not enter into any of this.
So in Explorer, 'Copy' the above map folder, then locate the Storage Card folder on your Axim again using Explorer and open it. Inside the storage card (or SD card or whatever it is called) 'Paste' the map folder. It is a 96MB file so you can expect the copy and paste operation to take 10 minutes or so. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I am referring to Explorer on the PC. Use that to copy the Map folder from the PC to the PDA. _________________ Darren Griffin |
