720 hangs then restarts - continually

Ok

everything was fine until Tomtom Home downloaded some quickfixgps install. When I switch on the Tomtom the start-up screen would show, then the yellow picture with a spinning disk icon, finally the navigator screen appears but there is no GPS signal and the unit does not respond. It then switches itself off and the cycle repeats. I was able to connect to my PC (this stopped the cycling) . Tried a reset, tried a Tomtom Home restore - rubbish didn't work.
I then connected to the PC and browsed the disk to look for changed files. I found the ephem directory (which I have since found out holds the data for the fast fix), deleted this and restarted the unit. Seems to have now fixed the issue.

Anyone else had similar issues. Tomtom have yet to comment.

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

The ephem folder contains the quick GPS fix data. Deleting the folder as you did in this case is the correct thing to do. You should now be able to go ahead and download the update again without problems.
