Finally got my head round it in the end. Many thanks to everybody for helping me out. Now I won't get lost on holiday.

Does anyone have any idea what this "Activesync" that Eltel12 was referring to is?

I downloaded both the "exe" version and the "zip" version and get nothing like that, just the clearflash setup.exe in both cases.
Is it on the mac version?

Microsoft ActiveSync is usually used by PDAs to sync your contacts and diary etc

I can't think of anything that was missed really.
When I follow the tomtom page for the clear flash download, I click on download but it's starts installing activesync for some reason.

I had to cancel that install, extract the file and install clearflash that way.
