I am stuck again!

How do I set a 4-Digit password for my 720?

I have set my owner details in preferences....

It then says connect to PC and in TomTom Home select My Go 720 then start device, but nothing ever appears in that section of TT Home.

Can you control the TomTom unit with the mouse on the PC?
You need to switch on the virtual TomTom device on the PC by clicking the mouse on the power button on screen, if there is a grey box indicating you should download aditional data for tomtom Home to work with the 720 press it (this would be positioned top center of the screen in home on the PC while you are viewing the "My 720" section of Home.
Once you can control the virtual 720 on the PC you can set the access pin code - Mike

I don't see any option to control the 720 on the PC.

I don't see any power button on screen?

I can do backups and copy files, and get traffic info in TT Home but that's about it.

HOME should download a DLL File which supplies the right Virtual Device to the PC.

Have you created an Account on TTs Web Site and selected your Device in the My TomTom area of the PLUS Services page?

I did not get any DLL download. I am running Vista, maybe that's an issue.
I have a laptop with XP so could try that.
Plus services account says I have TomTom GO 720 standard GO 720 software

Which version of HOME are you using, it needs to be 1.6, which is available from the CD.

I have split this from the original thread as it is developing in to a topic in its own right, similar in some respects to those we saw when the x10 range were released.

When using TomTom Home you should be able to generate the image of the device, then click on the "virtual" power button (I have circled where to click on the image below)

Does Home present you with this option at all?
It should appear when you click the "My GO 720" text in the lower left panel of TomTom Home, if it doesn't respond try removing the TT from the PC before re-connecting and trying again, the screen shot depicts where you need to go to select the PIN number (icon is top left) - select it with the PC mouse though - Mike

V1.6 on the CD did not work either on my Windows Vista PC.

Using my laptop with Windows XP I am now able to control my TomTom 720 and have set my 4-digit password succesfully.

Looks like a Windows Vista problem?

Anyone else using Vista and a TT 720 ?

Did not see any of that on my Vista PC, but ok on my Dell laptop with Windows XP.

I think the password get a pain, as if someone steal it they only got to reinstall the update and no pass word needed

I'm new to TomTom and Sat Nav and am a bit confused by this.

I have created an account at MyTomTom on the TomTom website and registered my 720.

I have installed Home from the CD and connected my 720 to the PC. Home had been talking to the 720 (I've done a complete back up) and I've also logged on to my MyTomTom account from home.

However, the "My GO 720" menu option is greyed out on the left-hand side of the screen!!!

Any advice?

TIA

Mark

Mark, Mine did this last night all I had to do to recover the situation was unplug the device from the PC then shut down the Home application on the PC - re-connect the TomTom and switch it on, Home should auto launch and the My 720 option was available for selection - Mike

My virtual machine is also greyed out Crying or Very sad

Under help the configuration shows:
Code:
* HOME info:

        HOME Version: 1.6.020
        Language: en_GB
Service discovery server sweet.tomtom.com requires no proxy
Connection state: logged in as "ME@ISP.COM"
        Loaded device dll: none

I don't understand why the Loaded device dll says None, as it did download the additional driver for the machine, but maybe it has lost it.

Can someone with this working see what their system says.
