Are any other users having a download problem on the accommodation category?
I can successfully download the TomTom Sat Nav UK country files such as single files like Lloyds-TSB, Honda dealerships etc and also some combined subcategories such as Fuel but the accommodation category does not appear to work.
I Select:-
SatNav = TomTom
Country = UK
Click the selection box for Accommodation ( last tried on the 2007-07-25 dated version with 2308 entries )
Select the radio button titled Combine Subcategories into category file
Click Show link
Click Download
When this works for other downloads that work I get a prompt
Download POIs.ZIP ( X bytes ) , X varies based on the file
When this is clicked I get a prompt Do you want to open or save this file
Name XXXXX_POIs.zip, XXXXX appears to be the same number - perhaps related to my login/membership number.
On the accommodaiton file instead I get shown a message "The requested URL could not be retrieved" and shows an error "Zero Sized Reply"
I have tried this on both Internet Explorer 6 and 7.0.6000.16473 |

Are you trying to download more than 20 sub-categories at a time?
This is the usual problem. You will need to Download in batches of 20, or less, and combine them with either POIEdit or POIConverter. _________________ Richard

Oldboy - Richard
Thanks for this tip - must admit I have not seen this mentioned anywhere so perhaps it needs added prominently. May be I should not be but I must admit to being slightly curious as to why this happens.
The accommodation category has 37 sub categories so my earlier installation process described had all 37 sub categories ticked.
I have now successfully downloaded the first 20 categories ( down to Jurys Inn ) and then the final 17.
Are you able to advise where I get the POIEdit or POIConverter utilities from that you refer to and are they straight forward to use ?
Thanks. |

POIEdit is used by a lot of people. Successfully.
My own preference is for POIConverter, but they do the same job basically.
The POIs are generated on the fly from the selections you make. This saves quite a bit of Computer Space and saves the end user a lot of time. Imagine combining 37 categories.
With POIConverter you open the first file and use the Append Icon to open the second. This merges the two together and saves them with the name of the first one opened.
With POIEdit you open the first and use File | Append to open the second. _________________ Richard
