Just been reading through that French review and it looks like they got 4.5 hours out of it.

Does it still have the annoying red flashing speed?

Looking at the info on the TomTom site, am I correct in thinking that the maps supplied with the unit are in the internal memory and that the SD is only required for additional storage and is not required?
How much room is spare on the internal memory, for POIs, music, voices, shared documents, vehicle icons, etc?

Can we start a icon thread, like the splash screen thread, and can someone please do a space shuttle, please...or a tank for the helping with the morning commute Gun Shoot Out

Cheers
Paul

That is correct, however unlike the ONE with internal storage, you can have maps on both internal and removable storage and maps internally and .mp3's etc on the SD.

We haven't had a 720 yet so cannot say, the memory in our test device is not representative of a retail device so cannot be compared. However, it's cheap and easy to add an SD card to expand memory for such things.

Good idea, I'll start one off Smile

I've just read on the US Tomtom site that the 720 is compatible with iPod, how does it achieve this? Does it use USB or is it simply a headphone socket on the 720 that transmits the sound via FM?

I called Dixons earlier, they had no idea when they would be getting stock. Has anyone been lucky enough to get one in the post this morning??

There is a specific iPod cable (It's the same cable as was used on the x10's) that connects to the abse of the x20. When connected you have full control of your iPod from the x20 including playlists etc. Works very well. Only downside is the cable uses the iPod Sync connector and doesn't charge the iPod. As the connector is used you can't therefore charge at the same time.

Interesting, I might have to pick up one of those.

Is there anyway for the tomtom to pick up a USB hard drive or key fob? I know you can put an SD card in to load all your mp3s but using a small usb drive would be amazing. Another option would be to use my phone as I have a large mem card for it, is it possible to stream bluetooth audio through the 720 and then FM?

Darren,

Does the 910 remote control work on the new unit, as I see there is a remote control accessory for it? The details for the new unit say that the remote control uses bluetooth, and I assume that the present remote does not.

My other bluetooth question is: can I have the 720 pick up calls from two phones (one at a time obviously)?

Cheers
Paul

This is not possible.

I can't answer that, but I'll ask.

It does not. AIUI, the 910's is a radio remote.

You can pair multiple phones but can only have one paired at a time if that answers your question?

I hope to take delivery of a retail 720 sometime today so can answer more specific questions with reference to the retail unit and what is included etc then.

Having received an email from PC-World confirming they were expecting stock today (27th) I called them, and to be honest the person I spoke to had no idea. He was obviously looking a the WEB page saying they were now due in on Monday 30th.

We'll just have to wait and see, also when you placed your order will have an impact on your delivery date. He indicated that they had received a few orders between the 6-9th July and then there's been a huge demand, so if you are not in the initial shipments there could be a longggggg wait.

It will also be interesting to see if Argos have the x20 units listed in their new catalogue due to be released tomorrow.

Would something like this work, between the iPod & the TT cable?
