The Ferrite I am using is from Maplins part number N90AB - it is the largest they do and I have found an increase in reception when driving, although I am using this ferrite on a different receiver from a different manufacturer - Mike

Have had a trip up the M25, M11, A14 and then A11 into Suffolk.
Apart from a short distance on the M25 just after the Dartford Tunnel I had an orange light all the way there, and all the way back. It did work in the car park of Imperial War Museum Duxford though (J10 M11)!
Still at least the ferrite meant I got a signal for a bit - previously it didn't work at all on this part of the M25.
My wife was driving so I fiddled with antenna placement - horizontally along the dash, horizontally 100mm up the screen, vertically and at an angle. No difference whatsoever.
I've finally got to an area where I have a TMC signal and I have a couple of ferrites.
And these are the results:
With no ferrite: Channel 151, Signal Strength 37-39
With one ferrite just after the USB PLug Channel 151, Signal Strength 30-31
With two ferrites: Channel 151, Signal Strength 29-30
With one ferrite just on the thin wire: Channel 151, Signal Strength 34-35.
