NUVI 350 getting it on Mounting Arm / ARM Mount

I posted this elsewhere before I realized I should have put it here:

Hello folks,

I just bought my NUVI 350.

I am trying to get the round plastic ball point of the arm into the round receiver but it just will not fit.

I don't want to force it and break something.

I've looked at the instructions and you would think this just should snap into place but it does not.

I bought this from a national retailer so I am confident it should not be any wrong parts in there.

Am I supposed to snap out the black part in the female end of the receiver?

I thought I was going to break mine.
I have a 300t and I just gave it a push and the metal outer spring gave enough to push the ball in but I think once you have done it for the first time it does get easier.
