Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the existing gps software and add TomTom navigator software and maps to the above device

It's not, TomTom is not compatible with Blackberry devices.

cheers for reply. I was hoping you'd say that because my boss is thinking about getting rid of our XDA's and getting blackberry phones.
Having read up on them I see now why they are so keen,they are capable of real time internet tracking.
That means I wont be able to sneak off to the pub while on the road.
