Is there any way to disable the overlimit sound effect on the Nuvi?
I ask because I've recently installed the spoken speed camera warnings on mine, and the robot voice goes "Gatso 30. Gatso 30. Gatso 30" until I want to rip the Nuvi off the windscreen and throw it out of the window.
I tried changing the alert setting to "Single tone" rather than "Continuous alert", but alas to no avail. So I am hoping that there is some hidden setting somewhere that allows the overspeed bong to be disabled.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? |

Not that I am aware of - if you use a custom sound for the speed alert, it is used for both the initial warning, and the overspeed warning. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Hmm hmm hmm. Will it interrupt one sound to play another? If not, one possible (and crap) solution would be for me to add a minute of silence to the end of each warning sound. |

The navigation will pause the speed alert, and then when the navigation finishes the speed alert will continue.
Whether an initial distance warning would override an already playing overspeed alert, I do not know - certainly my experience is that they would run one after the other.
A small delay may help your situation.
Having said that, (and I'm not trying to appear all high and mighty here) - but why do you want to speed through areas of known police presence in the first place? _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

That's OK, no offence taken.
First off, if the speed camera is a way off and I am doing say, 32mph in a 30, then it seems that it will warn me again and again and again. This is just irritating. It also seems very sensitive and will warn when you are even close to the speed limit rather than over, but that may be down to my speedo - not sure yet.
Secondly, if it thinks there's a speed camera when there *isn't* (even worse for mobile camera areas) then I don't even have the option to slow down to its preferred speed without seriously annoying the other traffic as well as myself. The 'bongs' in this situation were bad enough but I find the repeated voice warnings v. frustrating.
Cheers

I understand most of your points.
Of course, if the speed limit / existence of the camera within the PGPSW DB is incorrect for a particular site, then please report the correct speed to allow the DB to more accurate.
I do know what you mean though - I occasionally drive along a motorway where a road runs underneath with a 40mph speed alert on it, and there's no way I'm slowing down to that speed, yet database is correct and accurate at that point. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Camera Manager can be used to add a margin (+10% +2mph) to the overspeed warning, or disable it altogether. |

Your car speedo should always read over your true road speed. It is illegal in UK to have a speed display that can display below your true speed. I think the error allowed is 0-10%. You can check your speedo with your GPS - choose a long straight road, hold a steady speed on your car speedo and check what your GPS is reading. It should be lower in all cases. _________________ Phil |

Ash, you're a star. I'll have a look into Camera Manager later!
