HELLLLLP PLEASE
I connected my 710 via Home on my PC. I was using the virtual device and disconnected it without pressing the virtual on/off button (which the software tells you to press first !!).
Now when I connect up, Home loads as usual, checks for updates then freezes and I cannot select anything, I just get an error beep.
Do I have to uninstall and install it again or am I missing something silly ?? _________________ Tommo...

Start up HOME on its own. In the left hand window click Explore.
Connect the 710 and wait to see if HOME can 'read' the 710.
Does the Login show that you are logged in? If not try logging in.
Then Click Updates.
If it freezes again, then yes you need to re-install. ;) _________________ Richard

Thanks Richard.
When I connect my device, Tom Tom Home starts up, automatically logs me in and checks for updates. Once it comes back with 'No Updates', it appears to freeze. I cannot click anything at all as it just beeps at me, like an error type noise.
What worries me is that I have previously downloaded the France Plus map for my TT One and also the latest Western Europe map for my new 710. If I uninstall, will these disappear ? As they are downloaded maps, I don't know the product code as it showed in Home when you hovered your mouse over the map details.
Is there a folder with the home downloaded content in it, which I can copy somewhere before deletion ? I have looked through everything but can't see the map info anywhere in the files.. _________________ Tommo...

The Maps are downloaded as a CAB and TOC File pair.
If you Open HOME without the Device connected, Click on File | Preferences | Advanced. 4 Folder locations are displayed, the first being where the Files you Downloaded are stored.
You can Copy these to another location to be doubly sure, but I've never known HOME Uninstall removing Downloaded Data. IIRC it will tell you this.
Did you try starting HOME without a Device connected? _________________ Richard

Hi 999tommo,
In my "Home" directory I have the following sub-directories - Backups, Content, Downloads and Statdata. In the Downloads sub-directory it has Iteineraries, Post codes, Radar, Safety Cameras etc etc.
This might be the directory you are looking for.
If you still can't find it then look in one of your backup folders for the exact name of the map you have and do a search in windows. That may help you to locate the file and sub-directory. _________________ RQ

Thanks RQ,
I think I have found them. I will copy those folders elsewhere, then uninstall and reinstall Home. Fingers crossed it will still be there. _________________ Tommo...

To both Richards.....
Thanks for your help. I uninstalled Home and it does not delete anything you have downloaded or copied from your device. Now reinstalled and everything working just dandy.
