N73 - Can I buy GPS receiver and TTN6 Maps &SW for GB/IR

Hi I am new to this and I want to put Sat Nav on my N73. Can I just purchase the TTN6 Maps and Software for with a separate GPS.

Will this work - it seems like a cheaper way of getting what i need.

£58.99 for TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 Software & GB/IRE Maps
£50.00 for LD-3W GPS receiver ( could get cheaper GPS but have heard that other receivers dont work after SW upgrade )

Or do I need to go to Tom tom and buy a package

It's a fair price for TT6 Navigator - TT are quoting £67. YOu ought to be able to get a slightly less expensive BT GPS - and most new SiRF III units shold work with that combo. Have a look at the TomTom SiRF III unit they have on their (Handtech) web site. I have this unit. Works very well and has good battery life.

OK I have downloaded the Tom tom home SW - can I just purchase the Maps or do I need to purchase the full SW and Maps to enable it on the N73?

I am guessing the answer is I need the SW aswell but I just want to check before. As I am trying to get this as cheap as possible

Thanks - I actually got the application from tomtom helpdesk for free. I then tried to purchase maps and it was asking for an activation code. I rang the help desk and was subsequently told they shouldnt of sent it to me and I cant use it

This code can only be received when purchasing the software.

My issue is I want the TT for RofIreland and for the West coast America.

there is no package to offer the ROI mapping initially .

I have to spend 99euro for the software and a map of another place and then another 60euro for the GB and Ireland map.


Unless anyone has any other ideas.

When buying a GPS receiver be sure and choose one which still works with the N73. Nokia recently released a new firmware version which has caused several to stop working with that phone.
