Yes, you were clear - I was just being a little sarcastic and hoped people might see the funny side...obviously not, sorry.
Having said that, I thought that you were part of a convoy with the Royal travelling in luxury rather than the day-glo patrol car I assumed you were driving.
You must be a highly trained, qualified and competent driver to be trusted with a Royal on board and I take my hat off to you.
Are you also a firearms officer? Or perhaps you can't divulge this information
I often think about advanced driving, but just don't know where to start looking because I don't want to end up with some cowboy outfit and not learn anythng.

Mostdom is on an IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) course and I'm just about to sign up, try HERE.
If I remember correctly £85 for 6 to 8 x lessons on a Sunday morning - in your area. I'm 58 and i'm sure your much younger, you are never too old to learn.

I'm sorry I' a bit confused were you driving an old princess in day glo, or what were you doing with a princess in your car, I'm sure there are rules about police and princesses.

I always give way to bigger stuff because I know I'll come off worse if we have a disagreement :D
If the VIP had been me, then everybody else should have to give way 
Otherwise, I guess that emergency response ranks higher than position in society.
Royals may have blue blood, but they still poo and pee like the rest of us ...and when Windsor Castle was on fire, would Her Majesty have wished for the firemen to have been slowed down for the lower ranking members of her family?

I was driving a large comfortable car with HRH in rear. I was part of an escort group a full motorcycle points team. And yes I am a highly trained driver but not firearms. Others in the car take care of shooting, I take cre of driving !

I agree we should give way to a Fire Tender, if we are sufficiently warned of it's presence, but that doesn't mean that the Fire Tender driver should assume that all an sundry in it's path will move over. I'm sure you know from experience that not everyone does. Unfortunately in my job, a one and a half tonne car doesn't hold much clout compared to a ten or more tonne tender. "Get out my way or you are mincemeat" springs to mind.
As it happens it was a red light. Our motorcyclists had stopped all traffic for our convoy and Mr Firefighter took the advantage, assuming that we wouldn't take him on.

I thought he'd already given us a decent clue on this, namely that there are times when they exceed the speed limit whilst going to an emergency (or crime in progress), but don't have lights and sirens going in order to not announce their imminent arrival? - You would be exceeding the speed limit, he wouldn't be accountable for doing so. Having said which, if he's in a hurry to get somewhere, I guess you're having a lucky day. I did hear of a foot patrol (holding traffic up at a junction) stopping someone doing this.

I doubt that the court would accept the defense that you were following a police car and he was speeding so you thought it would be OK to speed too. It would be quite funny to try it though.

He wouldn't stop you because he was en route to an emergency so it'd be your lucky day. Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear. Foot policemen were holding up traffic at junctions along a route being dashed along by an emergency service vehicle. A clever dick tried to go queue jumping behind the EV and was stopped by a foot policeman.

Imagine this
You are driving along a dual carriageway catching up with a slower vehicle, you check your mirrors and see a police volvo in the outside lane with no blue lights on, he overtakes you, you then pull out behind him to overtake the slower vehicle and in so doing you keep pace with the police car who for example is doing 65-70 in a 60 limit.
Can he stop you for speeding behind him? Because I always thought that they had to follow you for a set distance.
