can i change the chime on my icn550 for camera alerts as i find it too short and not very alerting

Have a look at F20 advice here.
If you discover that 550 does support this feature than you should have no problems with wav file format as 550 will play almost any proper wav file (not mp3 disguised as wav, though) since it's WinCE based, unlike F20.

Here's some advice for 530 and 520 as well.
Looks the same -- the only difference is that 520 has CHK files like 550 and 530 doesn't, but you should only be modifying WAV and INI files anyway (and you can skip INI files if you don't care about having different sounds for different POIs).
