Raise the congestion charge to £50 per vehicle, and if you don't like it stay out, simple really, nobody forces you to enter the zone.

The Manchester congestion charge will be different and 'intelligent'.

It will only apply at peak periods and if you're travelling with the flow of traffic - ie if you're driving out of the city in the morning you won't be charged.

My brother lives and works and that area and he's in favour of the scheme, which isn't just a flat rate charge for crossing a line.

Personally, I already pay more on petrol each month for getting to/from work than my mortgage - some say I'm lucky to have a low mortgage, others say I should find a job closer to home Rolling Eyes
