3-D versus 2-D

I much prefer 2D, which to my mind give a more realistic indication of bends and twists on the road ahead on cross country journeys, together with the ability to see shortcuts if the road ahead is jammed. I'm also one who prefers portrait view. Why TomTom put all the info across the bottom of the screen, further reducing the depth available I'll never know.
