Oh well, guess it's my fault for buying off ebay and not spending the "extortionate" price that TT offer


What's going on here is that you've purchased a voice that was encrypted (i.e. locked) to a different device. All of the "official" tomtom voices (Cleese, Mr. T, Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds, Gary Busey) are delivered for a specific device and when used on the incorrect device cause the problems of locking/rebooting which you've experienced.
