My daughters' birthday is coming up soon and she wants me to give her cash to go towards an all-in-one sat nav system.

She intends spending around £150. What's the consensus of opinion amongst you guys as to what she should go for even at a slightly higher price range?

She only needs uk maps installed.

I'm a little biased but I think a TTone is a good call.

The only thing against any TT is the oft quoted lousy Customer Service - but I am a lucky one and have had neither hardware or software problems with the units.

TomTom One for ease of use within cost, or consider the Navman F30 with the T1 traffic receiver as it works just as well as a sat nav but the traffic reception is much better - Mike

Thanks for your input. I too am a bit concerned about customer dis-service by TT so will give her the feedback.

Thanks again

I've just received an e.mail from her asking about the AA's Navigator Vive. It's £150 and purports to do everything that she wants.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything known in its detriment?

Thanks

It's pretty poor so I couldn't recommend it (the AA unit). Go for the ONE, definitely the best in that price bracket and TomTom's support isn't anywhere near as bad as some suggest. If it fails within the first year your retailer is the one legally obliged to handle warranty issues anyway.

Wait till this weekend, retailers ususally discount satnavs during Bank Holiday Weekends, I got my hands on a Tomtom One GB for £149.99 with a free case worth £20 from comet, go through Quidco for another fiver off.
Free delivery takes 5 days but is worth it. Prices can be found here: http://www.best-satnav-deals.co.uk/ these can drop up to £30 during bank holidays, they did on the last one & at easter so keep your eyes peeled & you can save a few £'s.

I've just had a look at the prices and ebuyer seems to be one of the cheapest if you select Super saver delivery which is free, then go through Google checkout when checking out knocks off a tenner (you need to sign up for this) so you'd get the Tomtom One GB for £134.99 delivered, or if you want the case as well Comet are back down to £149.99 with the case in free
