Anybody using iGO for general aviation ? If yes, how ? I would like to create straight line routes myself using waypoints and see how much I am on track. iGO let's me plan routes with car, bicycle, etc, but nothing that would create a straight-line route ...
Is there any general aviation GPS map/navigation software that you would recommend (with a full map of Europe) Question

Thx,
Rider

Welcome to the forums.

Street navigation programs like iGO are generally very ill fitted for doing serious aeronautical navigation. You will rather want to look at

http://www.anywheremap.com/

or the freeware

http://www.pocketfms.com/

Thx. Though I agree, for my purpose, iGo would just be perfect. I runs smooth, has a very nice looking road map, topography, etc, which would just work perfect for my general aviation.
I did look at anywheremap, but it does not support eastern europe. I even talked to their rep and they said, at the moment they are not even planning adding it.
I did download pocketfms, but for me, the maps are just so far away from iGO or something pleasing for the eye ...

The only other program that I know has some kind of "as the crow flies" mode is CoPilot.

Hello:

In my opinion the simplest moving map system for aviation on a pocket PC is Memory-map. This allows for straight line or multipoint navigation with a variety of maps including, in UK the CAA standard.
For world wide maps to use with this format you can download at a low cost from aeroplanner.com

As Lutz has already said the shareware website pocketfms.com provides world wide aviation information for free and for a small contribution allows maps of greater detail to be downloaded.

In settings untick 'lock to road' and see if that helps.

I'm probably getting confused with track logs. (I think). Confused After the event, not before. Sad
