I think you might find four cameras listed for switzerland on the database, I know because I put them there. The problem is that there arn't that many subscribers that visit switzerland to report them, only me I think! Smile

And GPS_fan is right the swizz swiss just made the use of gps devices that can run these databases illegal.

Hans - If you are going there mabye you could report some cameras so when I go I'll confirm them for you and you'll then get free lifetime membership.

There are many things that are illegal to use but not supply or own. Currently we are happy to collate locations of safety cameras in Switzerland and will make them available but anyone who chooses to use them whilst in Switzerland should do so only if they are aware of the legality and risks associated with such use.

Sounds like conspiracy to assist in a crime! (Runs and hides...Twisted Evil)

EDIT: Not as daft as it might seem... Under our OWN laws, you can now be arrested under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act for carrying any written article that appears to be "politically motivated".
Whatever you have in your pocket - Private Eye, a newspaper clipping or a copy of Orwell's 1984, can now be used by the police as evidence of criminal intent under SOCPA.

Quote:
On January 10th a law went into effect banning the use of a navigation device to warn of speed surveillance locations, and police now have the authority to stop drivers using their GPS units for such a purpose, confiscate and destroy the device and fine the driver — we hate to see what they do to people who read books and feel emotion. As far as we can tell, it’s not actually illegal to own such a device, just illegal to use it for such a nefarious purpose, but at the same time Swiss government has issued a list of “illegal” navigation systems for retailers to remove from their shelves, including devices from TomTom, Garmin, Mio, Navman, Medion, Route66, Packard Bell, Sony and ViaMichelin.

Now the Swiss government is fighting back, announcing that several GPS devices are now illegal, because they can be used to help drivers avoid these cameras. It's easy to see other governments following suit, just as radar detectors were roundly banned after they got too popular. Still, it's going to be hard to enforce this ban. While they can ban certain makes of GPS devices, it's going to be tougher to prevent someone from downloading the same application to a GPS-enabled handset that sets of an alarm whenever the car nears a danger zone.

Might be difficult to get through customs though, as I only have a small boot.
:D

note: I just e-mail the swiss tourist office for some more information on this! watch this space.

If you don't speed, you won't get caught by a camera anyway.

This debate could just go on and on, so I'm going to bow out gracefully having given the information at my disposal.
