TomTom and UK Postcodes

I apologise in advance is this has been done before but .....

I'm a newbie to GPS and have just bought TomTom and a iPAQ 1940.

Got it working, but how do you get it to navigate to a postcode?
I looked at the TomTom web site, and talks of the postcode being a "street name suffix".
That is OK if you know the streetname, but I would like to be able to just give it a full six or seven digit postcode.

Unfortunately you can't route to a postcode with TomTom. TomTom had implemented postcode routing across Western Europe, but all other countries use a numeric postcode where as we use alpha numerics. And as they were using the street name field, it meant that doing an alpha/numeric search wouldn't work properly, so they removed it from the GB version.

Thanks Dave. I just spent a very useful hour browsing round various bits of the site and found the various posts in the TT forum.
I have downloaded the POI postcode files and I'll have a go at this sometime soon
