Hi,

Just run the WebUpdater and downloaded a new Bluetooth Firmware version 2.80.

No idea what is in the new release. Is there a way of finding out?

I have some issues with my Blackberry Pearl 8100 (not on their list of supported phones) and was hoping this might add support. The problem I have is that all my callers say they are getting quite bad echo of their own voice.

I have tried re-pairing phone to Nuvi and then Nuvi to phone but this made little difference.

I have updated the FW on the Pearl to the latest from the O2 website- no change

I have added a Garmin external microphone - small improvement but nothing radical.

The only other thing I am playing with is a setting on the blackberry called Echo Cancellation under the pairings connection settings. It has 3 settings; on, off and Auto. If on it makes the echo go away but then if I cut into someone else as they are talking my own voice gets cut-out too much and I end up in a walkie - talkie type situation whree I have to wait for a silence before daring to speak.

If it is set to off then this does not happen but the callers echo at their end comes back.

The phone book and voice dialling both work. The pheon keeps its connecton rock solid. I asked Garmin about support for the phone and they were useless.

Cheers,
Paul

Perhaps this is why GARMIN don't have it on their supported list Question

The echo problem appears to be with the Blackberry device and the handsfree kit (which is based on the Parrot 3100 technology) - I would suggest you give Blackberry support a ring to see if there is a problem.

For an unsupported phone it seems to do most of the things you want wit the nuvi.

Does the 8100 cut off it's own mic when connected handsfree?

Hi,

Yes it seems to cut off the mic but I will experiment over the weekend.

Thanks.
