I have recently installed Tomtom 6 on to my PDA (Nio P350), but am unable to get any connection between the program and the GPS unit. After reading several forums I installed Winfast Navigator on to the PDA to see whether it was merely Tomtom that was causing the problem. Unfortunately Winfast doesn’t see the GPS module either.
The settings that I am using are Program port is Com 4, Hardware Com 2 and Baud rate @ 4800 with Windows Mobile managing the GPS automatically. I would prefer to fix the unit without having to send it back (it is still under warranty!) as there is information on the unit that I would prefer not to lose.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Neil Laughing

Hi
Welcome to the forum

Have you paired the GPS reciever with the PDA first using your BT manager

They are the normal settings with the P350 but you have to Configure within TomTom. Other NMEA - Baud Rate 4800 - GPS_COM

Start with a soft reset.

Try removing the automatic management of the GPS. This can be an issue with TomTom and it makes diagnosing the problem a bit easier.

Then try WINFAST to see if you are getting any comms from GPS.

If still no joy remove the BT pairings and start again. Don't forget to create a New Incoming connection to get a COM port assigned.

When working with WINFAST, try configuring TomTom as reply above.

Soft reset between each step may not go amiss either Smile

When you have it working always EXIT TomTom - using the Exit option on screen 3 - anything else will possibly lock-up the GPS BT comms and will require a soft reset to clear.

With respect to not wanting to lose info on the unit may I suggest that you get into the habit of regular backups of the entire PDA? It takes a bit of time and can be done when not in use - but it is much better than losing important info. PDAs can be very efficient when it comes to losing important data Laughing
