It could be where you are trying to use it - loosing them that quickly could be due to poor reception levels. I can't think of a setting that would cause the problem you are describing. Had you tried using it with other s/w before TT6?
Get yourself into an open area with a clear view of as much of the sky as is possible. Leave the unit on for a few minutes and check with the satellite status how many sats you are getting. I would expect at least 8 and possibly more. _________________ Phil |

The thing is; there aren't any settings you can make from TomTom that will affect the ability of your GPS unit to lock onto a signal. All TomTom allows is to select the type of GPS (wired/BT, TomTom/Not TomTom), the COM port and the data rate. Changing either of the latter could cause TomTom to fail to see the GPS altogether - not what you are reporting. The first 'parameter' is determined by your GPS type and agin would be a work/not work situation.
Now there may well be parameters you can change on your GPS unit - but the best advice would be to leave these at their factory presets - changing these without knowing what you are doing will probably cause the GPS to stop functioning.
The symptoms you are describing show 'patchy' reception which could be down to poor location or a faulty GPS/Aerial. Is the N520 still in warranty? Does any of the supplied nav s/w that came with it function OK? _________________ Phil |
