I'm sure this is not the right place to post this and someone will correct me, but I have just recently noticed that it is now possible to edit posts. Long overdue and , for a dodgy typist, very welcome. Perhaps we will now get posts with better spelling, grammar and construction. Now that should bring a few comments - so I think I will leave the country _________________ Gee-Pee

Darren has to be polite - you're the customer, always right, remember? On the other hand, in view of your avatar, and me not being the boss of everything and this site (yet), I can call you a cheeky dog and get away with it. I would recommend you to read every one of my posts, wherein you will find the epitome of good spelling and good grammar, not to mention good boring. After you have responded by genuflecting in a suitably respectful manner, I will be able edit this post to read something entirely unconnected (and I'll get a big whack off Darren for it too!).
As for getting lost here - No Chance - just wait until the big boys come out to play.

Not Worthy is simply not good enough! Go to your browser and search for GROVEL. Indeed, search for GROVEL SERIOUSLY.
What I can't get over is none of the big boys have found this yet. _________________ Dennis

Up early because I have to work today! Thanks for the contributions, Dennis and Richard. I guess I had better start trembling for when the BIG BOYS do eventually find this thread. I'll be back tonight to see what's in my Feedreader.
In the meantime I refuse to grovel Quote: | "Behave in a servile way, show exaggerated and false respect in order to please somebody out of fear" OED |

How early? I was up at 5:15am and 180 miles away in Sheffield by 9am!!
Anyway, grovel is PRECISELY what is required of you - do it NOW and be afraid, very afraid. _________________ Dennis

Having the ability to edit posts is possibly a good thing for those of us with dyslexic fingers
However, there is a possible weakness within the editing process -
scenario 1:
a member types a post and submits it
member sees typo and/or other error and corrects it or adds additional text
other member sees edited post and responds
scenario 2:
a member types a post and submits it
other member sees post and responds
original member edits post after it has had a response
I guess that most people accept that typos etc to be part and parcel of forum life and it's one thing for a mistake to be corrected - but having the ability to edit a post after it has received a response could leave the system open to abuse if somebody decides to change the content of a post rather than simply correct mistakes, add a signature or something 'innocent'.
However, if a thread becomes 'heated' for example, a member may choose to edit a post 'maliciously' in order that another member is made to look stupid or whatever because their response to a post no longer makes sense.
Is there an easy way to stop the 'edit' facility after a post has received a response?
For example, on eBay, it is only possible to edit an item description, price and other listing details before a bid has been placed - but after a bid has been placed, it is only possible to add an extra 'description' entry and changes can no longer be made to the original listing. _________________ Andy
