My dad accidentally threw his i3 in the trash!

Please be patient...this is no ordinary i3 story. I'm an ex-pat yank living in hamburg. I bought an i3 with DE and Ch built in with all of europe on a DVD. I also bought NT for N. America on microSD from provantage.com

I was so happy with my i3 that I bought my dad (75 and occasionally confused in traffic) an i3. I thought it came with N. America on microSD card but it came with DVD. My dad has no computer. So, I visited him, put my N. America NT on microSD in his i3 and all was beautiful. I brought his NT N. America DVD with me along with the yellow sheet with reg numbers.

My dad comes home from a golf trip and gets confused and throws the bag with the i3 in the trash...along with my N. America microSD card!!! I'm thinking it's not too big a problem...I have his DVD...I can just use the unlock code on my i3. I have tried and not been successful. Is my dad's DVD somehow "bound" to his particular device??? There must be a way for me to use this thing. I'm leaving for the USA on May 15...help is appreciated.

No, but the unlock code is locked to the individual unit and is not transferable between units. Otherwise map piracy would be rife...

You would have to use the code that came with your i3 to load the maps onto your i3.
