A question for those who have owned a Mio C510 0r C710 for a bit. I have noted that the USA version has the minimise button for the MP3 player and therefore can be used whilst navigating, but the button one does not exist on my C710.

Has anyone any ideas as to why this was omitted for the EU version and can it be re-activated by modding or is it a completely different player in the US model of the C31X ?

I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on this issue.

Hardware aside the US C710 system is completely different - as far as software is concerned.

The C310X however does use Miomap (unlike the C310). As it's virtually impossible to buy one in the UK (most US firms won't ship them here apparently as a result of an agreement with Mitac) I haven't used one and can't comment on whether or not it's more like the European systems in terms of functionality.

Fwiw, the US support seems to be much better than UK support. There's even a toll free US number iirc. The support service also seems to be more "with it" - providing firmware updates (switching mainboards) to address navigation problems and other bugs for example.

It is possible to hack the European C710 so that it can use 3rd party mp3 players which run whilst Miomap is working.
