I was adding the camera database and I plugged the tomtom into my v3 mains phone charger by mistake; the jack fits perfectly and is exactly the same. The tomtom started charging up when I did this. When I realised what I had done I unplugged it.

Does anyone know whether this will damage the tomtom? If it works fine it would actually be really useful, I don't need to buy a mains tomtom charger and I can use the tomtom car charger for my v3 in the car.

Do any of you lot do this? Is it safe?

Hi,

A colleague at work does this all the time and has reported no problems.

A little surfing revealed the following about the chargers and their output:-

V3 - Output DC Voltage(s) 5.00V
- Amp Draw Nominal 500mA

TT - Output DC Voltage(s) 5.20V Max
- Amp Draw Nominal 580mA

Regards

PlayStationPortable (PSP) chargers are another, cheaper favourite for a second power supply too, apparently.

So it is exactly the same but draws less current so would charge slower right?

Thanks for info has put my mind at ease.

Sorry, didn't realise you were talking about a ONE "New Edition".

Is the Motorola V3 charged through a USB socket then?
