Well doug, Horace is long dead now and that advert was last broadcast probably something like 50 or 60 years ago (before I was old enough to do the pools). His house (called Long Reach) near here has variously changed from Manor to Rest Home, Restaurant and is currently a set of Luxury Appartments (ever seen the signs "Coming soon, xx Luxury Appartments"? Don't they ever convert Spartan or Basic appartments?)
And no, that's not how they speak here - they speak funny - MaFt wouldn't be able to understand them, even I, travelled as I am, sometimes find it difficult.

Sorry to drag this back on topic, BUT can you have a look at exactly which camera files you have installed on the device - it is possible you still have an old version of the database installed and set to warn.

This has been seen before when users switch from using the single file to the consolodated by type database without remembering to delete the single file version first. The same will occur if you switched database to speed zoned from either single file or consolodated by type.

Plug the device into the PC, use windows explorer to view the map folder, make sure tools/ folder options view tab "hide extensions for known file types" is NOT selected. Now look closely at the files with an ov2 file extension - Mike

Hi Mike,
deffo got the correct files, used speed zoned last time and thats what i downloaded and dropped on again this time........In fact i dropped them in one at a time and as you probably know you get asked "this file already exists do you want to replace it ?" comes up, It was thirty three last time and the same again this time that was with the pmobile files included - most would say copy and paste the lot in at the same time, and all old will be replaced with latest updates, but i did do this individually thats how i know its correct and it was deffo not mobile it was "Gatso" and if my memory serves me i'm sure it was 50 mph warning, there were no road works around, "Gatso 50 mph" was what the Tom Tom told me.

One other thing to check - have you got the TomTom supplied Speed Cameras installed/ still on the device, as the unit would be supplied with a very old (by now) database? - there are some details Here which show how to remove them, they might not be on your device, but there is no harm in checking - Mike

This is getting mysterious. Can you list all the files in your map folder for us to look at? There's a very handy utility for doing this, called DriveZ which you can download from HERE. You download it, unzip it, then double click it and select the map folder of your device, untick the box "Remove Extension", then click "Make list and put it on clipboard". Then paste that information into your post and it will show us all the files, complete with extensions, that you've got in your device's map folder.
The listing would look something like this ...

Well I hope Mike can see something here, because I cannot. There are exactly 100 POIs (with 33 pgpsw OV2s, BMPs and OGGs), which should be OK I believe. There's only one small point, which is that you don't need the two mobile variable ones "mobile_var" and "pmobile_var", which are not real camera files, but as far as I'm aware, having them in there doesn't do any harm - can't be sure as I never copy them across myself.
Back to your original questions ...
Quote:
My questions are, Where is the information from about what Camera's are up and what cameras are not?
Who updates this and puts it into file format to be downloaded to our devices?

You went on to say you have examples of (seeing) cameras (on the roadside) which are not shown on your TT ONE and examples of cameras showing on your ONE which you are not seeing on the road.

So I'm not sure that there is a problem! Camera information comes from members - you, me, everybody who sends in details. Those details are verified then magic wanded by (MaFt) the pgpsw team and put on the website for us to download. By the very nature of the beast, there will be new cameras out there which have not yet made it onto the database and there will be cameras recorded on the database which either are no longer there and waiting confirmation to be removed or mobile camera sites where mobile cameras have been reported in the past and where they could be next time you go along there (but you don't see them when they are somewhere else). I do believe that there are some instances when temporary cameras are put in as Gatsos, which may be the problem - they've been removed after roadworks ended and have still to be removed from the database.

Do you still have a problem or are you simply puzzled?

I think now we can't go any further until we have some specific location examples to work with from 'slimsta'...
otherwise we'll just keep going round in circles with guesswork and supposition.

I believe this to be the case in this instance, i don't have specific locations as Andy_P2002 has requested to work with and agree that we'll just keep going round in circles with guesswork and supposition, unless this is closed as it is, this has been real interesting and i have learnt more, does anyone have suggestions to recording POI (CAMERAS) ?
ie the most effective / Popular ? easiest/ user friendly?
because i'm not going to let anything through the net regardless of whether its telling me its there from my Tom Tom and i can't visually see it, or i see it and its not on the Tom Tom.
Regards all and thanks for the feedback and interest

As I said above, I think the quickest and easiest (and safest) way is to save as a favourite (Method 2 below)
Andy_P2002 wrote:
Firstly, make a new POI category called "New Cameras" to store them in and also to send off to the PocketGPS people at the end of each month so they can add them to the master database.

Then:

Method 1 - Store straight into the New Cameras POI category
Tap to go to to Menu page 1 / Change preferences / forward arrow / Manage POI / Add POI / Scroll up or down and select category "New Cameras" / forward arrow / GPS position / then name it.

That's way too many button presses for me when driving, so:

Method 2 - Temorarily store as a Favourite
Tap screen / Add favourite / forward arrow / GPS position / name it anything (like just "30" or whatever)
Then at your leisure (i.e. not driving), copy it from the Favourites to the new POI category by:

Menu page 1 / Change preferences / forward arrow / Manage POI / Add POI / Scroll up or down and select category "New Cameras" / Favourite / select it / then name it properly.

The whole "New Cams" ov2 file can then be submitted to the database using the box on the left of the Camera Submissions page.

Many thanks will look at the instructions and toy around to see which one suits, i take it i have to delete one of my other points of interest if i have generated one called "New Cameras"? as i had 100 in this would make it 101 and therfore deleting one other out would keep it the same correct ?

If you do as Dennis suggests you will have two "spare" POI slots so you shouldn't need to remove any of the others.
I can't spot anything in the file list though, one thing that has been mentioned earlier in the thread, Have you got the Warn ONLY if POI on Route check box selected or not for each Camera POI file? - if set to unchecked you will receive more warnings from cameras on adjacent roads, the downside to checking the box means you will only ever get a warning IF you plan a route, but it does reduce spurious warnings - Mike
